Florida Gateway ProRodeo in Lake City Florida
At
the Florida Gateway ProRodeo in Lake City Florida, pink was the color of
choice as pink shirts were in the stands as well as the arena for the Tough
Enough To Wear Pink event held in conjunction with the rodeo performances
as well as our sponsor dinner.
After attending the NFR in December, members of the rodeo committee determined that a TETWP event would be a terrific way to promote our rodeo and also help in a very worthwhile cause, and what a great decision that was for the community. The sponsor dinner was turned into a Tough Enough To Wear Pink Hoedown, with dinner, silent auction, live auction, ribbon sales and numerous other “pink” promotions. A great time was had by all with a number of people already wanting to buy tickets for next year.
During
the rodeo performances any winning contestant who was wearing pink was awarded
an extra $100.00 by the committee, with some contestants donating this money
back to the cause. On Saturday as the arena was filled with contestants,
contract personal and committee members all in their pink, the rodeo committee
was overwhelmed to be able to present checks on behalf of the entire North
Florida area totaling $34,000, to several organizations involved in breast
cancer awareness.
After the great response and help from the area the Florida Gateway ProRodeo
is already committed to having another TETEP in 2007.
