Missy’s Story
Thursday, October 08, 2009

I wanted to share this story sent in by Jim Swaim, President of Cattlemen’s Days in Gunnison, Colorado:

In 2005 the Cattlemen’s Days committee subscribed to TETWP through Karl Stressaman.image
After two years of helping head a very successful campaign of raising dollars and awareness in Gunnison Colorado my wife was diagnosed.  Our pink rodeo campaign is usually the second and third week of July.
August 2007 my wife Missy was diagnosed, .She looked at me and the first words out of her mouth “ do not volunteer to help hospice.” Mis, is doing wonderful after a bilateral (both sides), chemo , radiation and reconstruction.
Mis, looks beautiful as her hair came in jet-black from being blond.  The words Tough and hero can not be overstated for anyone going through insidious disease.
Mis, wrote these words for our for our rodeo tribute this year.  “ No one knows better than the cowboy the fragility of life.  They have struggled for years with a fading lifestyle.  They push through the adversity and battle for the survival of their western heritage. Who could better champion a cause like breast cancer than the cowboy who willingly dons pink to show support for those who also face mortality.”
Congratulations Terry on five years, and to many, many, many more.
Congratulations Missy for your fight and courage.  And thank you Jim for sharing your wonderful story!
