Let’s Rodeo
Three nights of Rodeo excitement kicks off Thursday, April 28, 2011, with the Helotes Festival Association’s 23rd Annual PRCA Rodeo, held in conjunction with the Festival’s Annual Cornyval which runs through Sunday, May 1.
Sammy Catalena Rodeo Company will again produce this year’s Rodeo which will consist of bull riding, tie-down roping, saddle bronc riding, bareback bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping and women’s barrel racing, with $2,200 added money PLUS a 2-horse trailer will be awarded to Helotes’ All Around Cowboy.  A $25.00 gas certificate for each event winner each night courtesy of Valley Mart no.7. In addition, the Helotes Festival Association’s PRCA Rodeo is proud to have national sponsors Coors, Dodge Ram, Wrangler, and Pendleton Whisky, as well as Helotes area sponsors to support our local events, which includes an open calf scramble each night for all young kids to participate in.

Pre-rodeo activities begin at 7:30 each night with Mutton Bustin followed by the 7 event PRCA Rodeo kicking off at 8:00 p.m. nightly.  This will be followed by a dance each night on the Cornyval grounds.

On Thursday, April 28th, the Helotes Rodeo and Wrangler has teamed up with the Cancer Therapy & Research Center to host the annual TOUGH ENOUGH TO WEAR PINK promotion in support of breast cancer awareness for PINK SHIRT NIGHT at the Helotes Rodeo. Wrangler Gift Certificates and other great items will be given away during our Thursday night rodeo performance, so we ask you to show your support by wearing your Wranglers and wearing PINK!

Friday, April 29th will be COORS NIGHT at the Helotes Rodeo, and you can be the lucky winner of a great giveaway from COORS.
Saturday, April 30th, wear your red, white and blue as we join the Wrangler National Patriot Program with Helotes’ Salute to the Military.
During Helotes’ Saturday night rodeo performance, 3 names will be drawn who will each win 6 tickets (2 each night) to the NATIONAL FINALS RODEO held in December in Las Vegas, PLUS hotel accommodations at the South Point Hotel & Casino or the Palace Station Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, AND, one of those lucky winners also receive tickets from SOUTHWEST AIRLINES!  Raffle tickets are $10 and may be purchased from any rodeo committee member or at the rodeo. You do not have to be present to win.

A Four Man Scramble Cowboy’s Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, April 9, 2011 at The Flying L Golf Course in Bandera, TX. Entry fee is $75 per player and includes cart, green fee, 2 mulligans, range balls and a full BBQ buffet. Entry deadline is April 4, 2011. Box seat tickets have been SOLD OUT in the past, so in order to get on the Box Seat waiting list, contact Wendy Smith at wendi-smith@sbcglobal.net. General admission tickets to the rodeo are only $7 per person for all ages. Cornyval gate admission for persons over 12 years of age is $6 on Friday and Saturday.  Cornyval gate admission on Thursday is free. Discount advance general admission tickets may be purchased at Cavender’s Boot City, Sterling Bank, Compass Bank, Broadway Bank, and L&M Feed & Pet Supply in Helotes.
