Ellensburg Rodeo

The Ellensburg Rodeo is one of the “old rodeos” and has earned its place as one of America’s Top 10 professional rodeos.  The Ellensburg Rodeo, in Ellensburg, WA, also hosts the World Finale of PRCA’s Xtreme Bulls Tour. Started in 1923 with the same volunteer spirit that still “fuels the fire” of today’s volunteers, the rodeo has grown from a local competition among ranch hands to the professional event it is today with more than 600 contestants and prize money in excess of $400,000!

Today’s best riders, ropers, and wrestlers compete in what many consider to be the best rodeo arena in the nation. The Friday night opening performance starts in the early evening and ends under the stars. The Saturday and Sunday afternoon “perfs” feel electrically charged by the brilliant blue sky. It all leads up to the Labor Day Monday Championship Finals… the best of the best dueling in the dirt!

This year, The Ellensburg Rodeo will be sponsoring the 10th annual Tough Enough To Wear Pink day, Sunday, September 6, 2015. The Tough Enough To Wear Pink campaign that supports awareness of breast cancer, early detection and funding for research has taken hold! There are many activities at this year’s rodeo in keeping the arena pink.

All rodeo fans are encouraged to wear pink on Sunday. A variety of pink merchandise will be available for purchase.  Pink western bandannas are a $3 donation, $1 for a strand of beads, $5 for sunglasses, and $15 for t-shirts and tanks. All pink merchandise will be available at the rodeo on Sunday. In addition to pink apparel, beads and bandannas, pink balloons will be released during the rodeo.

All proceeds raised will benefit The Foundation at Kittitas Valley Health Care’s Tough Enough to Wear Pink Fund. Funds raised directly support breast cancer locally.
